Today visual art either finds its application in design that caters to the consumer society or it remains inside galleries and interacts with only a small subcultural group. In other words, it concentrates its efforts either on itself or on design, making meaningless things into desirable ones. The fruits of such creations are used strictly behind ‘closed doors’, where the entrance is only allowed for either snobs or merchants. And only illustration remains a bridge between the spontaneous space of pure art and the rest of the world, where we all live our quiet, unremarkable lives. By crossing this bridge, one have to go backwards as illustration cannot exist on its own, separate from everyday life. But we have no good books published in our city and our magazines are just decorated with flamboyant spots. And amidst all of that, our small armoured Artmachine goes and paves the way for such a wonderful and lively genre as illustration.
